Walter Schemelia

March 22, 1949 — September 28, 2020

Unlike a drop of water which loses its identity when it joins the ocean, man does not lose his being in the society in which he lives. Man's life is independent. He is born not for the development of the society alone, but for the development of himself. Independence is the key to a vigorous life.  A man must look inward to find his own answers.  Walter “Bud” Schemelia, Jr. was an independent man.  He lived a strong life until he passed away at the age of 71.  Bud was the son of the late Walter & Ella Schemelia (nee Griffith), and graduated from Triton High School in 1967.

Walter was a man of strong faith; his faith and religion was very important to him. Bud carried this faith with him when he contributed to the manpower of our great nation in the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972.  In his later years, Bud was a collector.  He collected many model cars and baseball cards.  He is survived by and will be missed by his brothers, Steve, John and Ken Schemelia as well as his nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to join Walter’s family on Monday at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 700 Powell Street, Gloucester City between 10:00am and 11:00am with a funeral service to begin at 11:00am.
