Margaret M (Kirk) Borton

February 2, 1923 — July 26, 2021

With these hands, I give you my heart and crown it with my love. The Irish Claddagh is an age-old symbol personifying friendship, love and loyalty. No matter how you knew her, Margaret: Maggie, Margie, Mom or Gram... she was love, fiercely loyal and adored being involved with her family.

Forever always seems to be around when it begins but forever never seems to be around when it ends. On Monday July 26, 2021, after 98 years, we filled to Marge the parting glass and drank to whate’er befalls, during the early evening Margie gently rose and softly called, “goodnight and joy be to you all.” We gave Marge’s forever away and she was in heaven a half an hour before the devil knew she was in the hollow of God’s hand.

Mrs. Borton was born, early winter, in Oaklyn at the beginning of the “Roaring 20’s” and had been a longtime resident, raising her family in Haddon Twp. On her way to Cape May she loved to party, travel and monthly card club but nothing was better than summers in Stone Harbor. Marge graduated from Collingswood High School, class of 1941, made her career as a hard working sales associate at Franklin & Simon in Haddonfield and was a lifetime parishioner of St. Joseph The Worker Parish, St. Aloysius Church, Oaklyn and St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, St. John’s Church, Collingswood.

Sing the songs that I loved best and dance one time all together. Mrs. Borton is the daughter of the late Bernard & Anna Marie (nee Ryan) Kirk. She was the loving wife and predeceased by her late husband, Walter. Marge was the devoted mother of David & his wife Esther and Karen & her husband Michael Kondrla. She is the proud grandmother of; David & his wife Gina Borton, Scott & his wife Michele Borton, Stacey and her husband Chapman Vail, Stephen & his wife Erika Borton, Mary Beth & her husband Richard Small, Michael & his wife Kelly Coskey, William & his fiance’ Jeanine Coskey, Kevin & his wife Sarah Lutz, Maria & her husband Nick Drader and 15 great grandchildren. She is also survived and will be sadly missed by her fur baby’s and faithful companions; Chloe, Henry and Lola.

When I leave you, don’t weep for me. Pass the wine around and remember how my laughing pleased you. Ceade Mile Failte (100 thousand welcomes) are extended to Relatives, friends and neighbors to gather with the Borton family on Thursday morning. We’ll share heartfelt stories and dance your memories with joy in our hearts between 10:00 am and 11:00 am at St. Joseph The Worker Parish, St. Aloysius Church 37 W. Haddon Ave., Oaklyn where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Mark Matthias at 11:00 am. Following Mass, we will come together in a graveside tribute and witness love’s reunion at Calvary Cemetery, Rt. 70 Cherry Hill. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box P, Manasquan, NJ 08736 www.cancer.org or to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 www.stjude.org
