John W Boker

August 18, 1964 — May 6, 2023

Audubon

When you believe in the good, give and care, in return, you will be happy, loved, and fulfilled. This is what the good does. They keep trying and never give up. John W. Boker was at his essence all that is good and right. His boyish, affable charisma always reminded you to “stay outta trouble” and reached so many. Life isn't about having amazing experiences. It's about making everyday experiences look amazing. You see, what we do for ourselves dies with us. But what we do for others is and remains immortal. John was humble but committed and driven by the good. He volunteered his time and contributed to his community, in food banks, and in faith. Unfortunately, this life given us by nature is short. John had faced adversity with his health for many years but would not stop. On Saturday, May 6, 2023, after 58 years, death unexpected, kindly stopped for John at his home. The carriage held but just he and immortality. My buddy, Well meet again, Don't know where Don't know when. But I know we'll meet again some sunny day.

John was born in Woodbury and had been a longtime Brooklawn neighbor, volunteer, and activist before moving to Audubon just a short time ago. John was a lifetime member and firefighter with Brooklawn Fire Co. Station 344 where he was currently serving as President and also as a member of the Camden County Rehab Unit. John was a member of The St. Patrick Knights of Columbus Council 11713 in Woodbury where he assisted with weekly bingo on Sundays. He had been a longtime member and marshall with the Aqua String Band in the Bridesburg neighborhood of Philadelphia and volunteered his time at the Food Bank of South Jersey in Pennsauken. It's not length of life, but depth of life, John will fondly be remembered as an outgoing good guy with many friends that stuck to his strict regimented schedule.

Nights are long since you went away, I think about you all through the day. My buddy…John is the son of Lorraine (nee Marsh) & his late father Frederick J. Boker. He is the brother of; Todd T. (Beth) Boker, Lyn & her husband Robert Hans, and Dawn & her husband Joseph Shapely. John is also survived and will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews, The Brooklawn Fire Company, a grateful community, and the Aqua String Band.

Hail, hail the gang’s all here! We’ll come together to take comfort in each other, pay tribute to heroism, dedication, and to one of the good guys on Friday morning. We’ll share our heartfelt stories on Friday morning between 9:00 am and 11:00 am at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn where a remembrance ceremony will celebrated by Pastor, Reverend Daniel J. Amey at 11:00 am. Immediately after,  we’ll put on our golden slippers and strut down to John’s resting place for a graveside tribute at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Brooklawn Fire Company www.brooklawnfire.org 110 S. Wilson Ave. Brooklawn, NJ 08030.
