Helen E Bachovin

June 17, 1950 — January 27, 2023

Collingswood

We are all tourists, God is our travel agent who has already planned our routes, bookings, and destinations... trust him and enjoy life. Life is just a journey! Therefore, live today! Tomorrow may not be. Helen E. Bachovin saw the world as a grain of sand and heaven in a wildflower. To plant a seed in one's heart, root it in love, and nourish it with time spent together yields a blossom that will flourish forever. Helen was the life of the party, “The aunt” that assumed the role of matriarch. When you love life, you can touch someone’s heart and take the world with you. Travel isn't always pretty. It isn't always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. During the very early morning of January 27, 2023, after 72 years, this was the time we let go. And these are the words that will take us home. The times we had, we wouldn't trade them for gold 'Cause they laugh and they cry us, Somehow sanctify us, ‘Cause the love and the laughter will live on long after All of the sadness and the tears.

Helen’s flower bloomed in the cradle of liberty, our city of brotherly love, during the summer of south Philly’s “do-whop” years. She worked and made her career as an RN, beginning at Einstein Medical Center and spent many of her years taking care of our nation’s heroes at the Philadelphia Veterans Hospital. Helen loved to cook, she undoubtedly made the best pierogies and enjoyed spending time in her garden. She was a loyal supporter of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and was a regular face at the Philadelphia Flower Show for over 30 years. Travel enables us to fly like a bird and learn as a student. Helen had the opportunity to explore the world extensively, visiting Ireland, Puerto Rico and Hawaii, among others. Her days were filled with dedicated friends and she enjoyed her time at home in the garden. This life, given us by nature is short. But, her memory will remain with us forever.

Helen is the daughter of the late, Andrew & his wife Anna (nee Petruncio) Bachovin. She leaves to cherish her memory, her siblings, Mary & her husband Herb Grofcsik, Steve & his wife Maria, George & his wife Darlene, and Dan & his wife Deborah. Helen is the fun-loving aunt who enriched the lives of her many nieces, nephews, Godchildren and her sister-in-law Barbara Bachovin. She, however, was predeceased by her late brother, Andrew.

Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to join the Bachovin family on Tuesday afternoon. We’ll come together to share our heartfelt stories, take comfort in each other and pay tribute to Helen between 1:00 and 3:00 pm at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn, where a remembrance ceremony will be celebrated at 3:00 pm. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society www.phsonline.com or to the VA Philadelphia Healthcare System - Corporal Michael J Crescenz VA Medical Center 3900 Woodside Ave. Phila. PA 19104.
