Edna (Cochran) Hofmann

July 24, 1928 — April 5, 2022

Collingswood

Love and laughter will live on long after sadness and tears. Some memories never leave your heart. Like the salt in the sea; they become part of you - and we carry them. Edna Hofmann (nee Cochran) “Nana” loved the NJ shore-from the boardwalks of Atlantic City and Wildwood in her youth, to Ship Bottom, Long Beach Island in her later years. She enjoyed swimming and rafting in the ocean with long days on the beach. Nana and Pop Pop took pleasure in camping and traveling to national parks throughout the United States with their family. They loved natural beauty in the out of doors.

Where words fail, music speaks. Melodies filled Nana’s days and the harmonies sang from  Philadelphia mummers string bands, Lawrence Welk, and all kinds of easy listening. Nan played the accordion, loved to square dance, and host the family “shindigs”, as she called them. They were always full of fun and games, from biking off the dock to pogo sticks and bounce-back paddle ball. Unique games of craziness were always a family favorite.

Edna was a bookkeeper and loved the management of records and forms with intricate precision. She made her career at Thomson Lamination Co. in Maple Shade, had been a den mother for Cub Pack 50, and was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star in Blackwood for 75 years.

In May of 2020, Edna handed her husband Frank over from time to eternity. Although separated by death they remain connected in love. Mrs. Hofmann is survived by her children Kurt & his wife Christina, Glenn and his wife Debra, and Carla and her husband Mark Nichols. She is the proud Nana of 7 and great Nana of 11.

Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to Nana’s remembrance.  We’ll be one big fun family; playing music, recalling days at the beach, and laughing at all the craziness over the years. We’ll come together in tribute and in thanksgiving on Friday, July 29th between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn where a remembrance ceremony will begin at 12:00 pm. The witness of love’s reunion will be held privately on our nation’s hallowed ground at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.

As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Shriner’s Childrens Philadelphia www.shrinerschildrens.org 3551 N. Broad St. Philadelphia, PA 19140.
