Edith J (Dickson) Higginbotham

December 13, 1928 — July 20, 2022

Collingswood

Edith J. Higginbotham (nee Dickson), age 93 of Collingswood, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, after a brief illness.

Mrs. Higginbotham was born in and had been a lifetime Gloucester City neighbor and homemaker. She was tough cookie who took care of her family. Edith was independently active and had been an avid bowler at Westbrook Lanes in Brooklawn for over 50 years.  In her younger years, she volunteered her time as part of the Highland Park Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary in Gloucester City. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Gloucester City, then St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Collingswood. She loved watching & cheering for the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.

She enjoyed keeping a tidy house, crocheting, shopping, going to craft shows & taking road trips. She also loved going on vacations, in the states & abroad.

Mrs. Higginbotham was predeceased by her childhood sweetheart & dear husband of 47 years, James W. Higginbotham. She is survived by her children; Lynn & her husband Walter Garson, James & his wife Linda and Helen & her husband Robert Grzib. She is the proud grandmother of Heather, Scott, Lee, Carol, Jamey, Adam, Edward, Kelly,  17 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren. Edith is also survived and will be sadly missed by her sister Helen Crispin as well as her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her late siblings; Joseph Dickson, Alberta (Dickson) Finnegan & John Dickson.

A Celebration of Life service is being planned and interment will be private.
