Obituary

David W. Borton, Sr., age 73 of Audubon, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.

Dave was raised in Haddon Township. where he attended St. John’s and graduated with the class of 1966 at Haddon Township High School. Dave was a longtime resident of Audubon where he also ran his business, Borton Associates, and was a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph The Worker Parish.

Dave was a Philadelphia Sports fan and a long-time season ticket holder of the Flyers and Eagles and finally witnessed the great Eagles Superbowl win! His biggest passion was baseball where he played in local adult leagues and transitioned 30+ years ago to become an umpire. Dave had great respect for the game, every player, coach and family where he built many long-lasting friendships both on and off the field. Dave was a member of the NJBUA and was close to reaching his goal of umpiring 1,000 games across high school, college and professional teams in the NJ/PA/DE/MD area and his favorite spot in Hawaii. He was a member of the Hot Stovers Baseball Club of South Jersey and was inducted into the South Jersey Baseball Hall of Fame as an umpire in 2014.

Dave loved to travel with his family and friends for many years with great memories in Stone Harbor, taking out his boat “The Strike Three” and taking every opportunity he could to watch or umpire a game. His weekly “Lunch Bunch” outings with his high school friends, traveling to OBX for the last 20 years with childhood friends were traditions that Dave enjoyed so much reminiscing of the good times and laughing their way to new memories.

Dave is the son of the late Walter & wife Margaret (Nee Kirk) Borton and is survived by his wife of 33 years Esther Campbell. Dave is the father of; David, Jr. & his wife Gina, Scott & his wife Michele, Stacey & her husband Chapman Vail, Stephen & his wife Erika, Mary Beth & her husband Richard Small and Tabatha & her husband Al Gillingham.  Dave is the proud grandfather of; Tyler, Brandon, Meghan, Zachary, Jackson, Max, Alexis, Griffin, Julia, Andrew, Emaleigh, Tristan, London, and “Baby Small” on the way, Cody, Gage, Giavanna, JT, and Carly. He is the great grandfather of; Bryn, Emmy, Kingston, Hadley, Haden, and 2 more Great Grandbabies on the way.
