Cynthia Jane Senior

November 18, 1962 — October 24, 2021

At the beach, life is different. Time doesn’t move hour to hour, but mood to moment. We live by the currents, plan by the tides and follow the sun. With soft footprints in the sand, we walk by faith, even when we cannot see. If you see the moon, you will see the beauty of God. If you see the sun, you will see the power of God. If you look in a mirror, you will see God’s best creation. Cynthia Jane Senior was both hellfire and holy water. Our mother was shore of herself, took time to coast and avoided pier pressure. If you want to know how much we loved her, count all the waves in the sea.

On Sunday, October 24, 2021 we learned how terrible it was to love something that death can touch. During the early morning hours, as the last scene of her life flashed, Cindy’s tide slipped away from the sand and the Lord, as he promised, carried his precious child.

Cindy was born in Camden and had spent her formative years in Collingswood. She found her little patch of heaven in Oceanside, CA and had worked as a paralegal. Early on Cindy had been a congregant of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church inn Oaklyn and more recently the Oceanside Sanctuary in Oceanside, CA. She adored slipping her feet into the warm beach sand, skiing the challenges of the mountains and tending to her plants.

Seeing death as the end of life is as seeing the horizon as the end of the ocean. Just as every salty tear returns to the sea, Cindy leaves to cherish her memory; her children Timothy Willis, Jr. (Rachael Carpenter) and Tammi & her husband Michael Varallo. She is the proud grandmother of Emilia Varallo and is the sister of Debbie Rastelli and the late William Senior, Jr. and the late James Senior. She is also survived and will be sadly missed by her faithful companion “Spike” as well as her nephew William Miller.

Relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to gather with the Senior family on Saturday morning. We’ll be sharing our heartfelt stories between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church 409 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn where Pastor Jay Berry will lead us in a celebration of life through faith at 1:00 pm.

What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others, is and remains immortal. Burn what is left of me and scatter my ashes to the beach’s winds. Give my sins to the devil and my soul to God. If you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed. The time honored tradition of reuniting those we love with nature will be held privately. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society 1851 Old Cuthbert Blvd. Cherry Hill, NJ 08034. www.cancer.org To share a heartfelt story, please visit www.crerancelebration.com #crerancelebration #heartfelt
