Clement E "Mick" McKinney, Sr.

September 27, 1942 — February 11, 2022

Clement E. “Mick” McKinney, Sr. was genuinely a good man, a good and honorable family man who believed in and spent a lifetime serving and supporting his community. “Mick” faced adversity and danger head-on, revealing his strength in character. Mr. McKinney loved to travel and had seen the world cruising it over the years. As we are about to go on a journey, “Bon Voyage” is shared and exclaimed. Goodbye and good luck…

On Friday, February 11, 2022, after 79 trips around the sun, we said goodbye and farewell from his longtime home. What we do for ourselves, dies with us. But, what we do for others, endures.

Mr. McKinney was born in Woodbury and had been an active and engaged Brooklawn neighbor, raising his family and protecting its citizens for many years. Mick began his career in the fire service in 1965 and was later joined by both of his sons. He had been a life member of Brooklawn Fire Co., Station 34-4 where he served as Captain and was an enthusiastic firehouse softball teammate. He was recognized for 25 years of continuous service in 1990 and had subsequently continued his dedication and service firefighting with Bellmawr Park Fire Co., station 3-3 for 13 years. During his early years, Mick volunteered as a Brooklawn Athletic Association baseball coach, he supported the Gloucester City Mustangs and had been a member of the Gloucester City Sportsmen Athletic Club. Mick enjoyed hunting and fishing on his many boats and loved to travel, especially to Ocean City, MD. Polished river stones have been tossed by wind and smoothed by water. Just like those stones, we too have been polished by the gifts of our father... The wisdom of his years, the strength of his values and the patience of his understanding.

True love is your soul's recognition of its counterpoint in another. Mick had met and was lucky enough to marry his high school sweetheart enjoying 57 years of marriage and family. Mr. McKinney is survived by his loving wife, Elaine (Nee Hilderbrand), and is the father of Dallas & his wife Valerie McKinney and Clement “Ed” & his wife Kori McKinney, Jr. He is the proud grandfather of; Maddison, Mackenzie, Kelsey, Carly, Katie and is also survived and will be sadly missed by his brother Robert & his wife Sandy McKinney.

Relatives, friends, neighbors, and brothers in the fire service are invited to gather with the McKinney family on Wednesday morning. We’ll be telling fishing tales, laughing at firehouse stories and sharing our heartfelt memories between 9:00 am and 11:00 am at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 700 Powell St. Gloucester City where a remembrance ceremony will be celebrated at 11:00 am by Pastor, Reverend Daniel J. Amey. A graveside tribute will immediately follow at Woodbury Memorial Park. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Brooklawn Fire Co., 100 S. Wilson Ave. Brooklawn, NJ 08030 www.brooklawnfire.org
