A horse perseveres with his heart and wins with his character. You don’t look back, you keep it all on the track. Wayne W. Skain certainly left it all on the track. He was wild & crazy, generous and had a great sense of humor. Wayne won each of us over with his rugged character and a beer. On Saturday January, 9th, 2021, after 71 laps around the track, Wayne passed away at Virtua-Lourdes Hospital in Camden. we’ll look back and smile because it was life and Wayne decided to live it.
Wayne was born in Camden and had been a long time Gloucester City neighbor. He worked in maintenance at Crescent Mobile Home Park in Gloucester City and cheered on the Phillies & Eagles from home. Wayne enjoyed pressing lady luck and bet his hand at the track in Cherry HIll and at the casinos in Atlantic City.
Wayne is the husband of Susan (nee Erdenski) Skain and is the father of; Richard Skain, Allison Siciliano, Donald & his wife Cara Russell and Jerry Russell. Wayne had legal guardianship over Richard and Marie Mitchell.
He is the proud grandfather of Delilah, Noah, Brianna, Anthony and Ryleigh. Wayne is the brother of Lucille, Faye, Jackie and the late Del, Eugene, the late Merle and was predeceased by his faithful companions Thunder & Storm.
Relatives, friends and our Gloucester City neighbors are invited to gather with the Skain family. We’ll be talking horses, ‘bout the “Iggles” and sharing our heartfelt stories between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 700 Powell St. Gloucester City where a remembrance ceremony will begin at 1:00 pm.
