The greatest measure of a man is not measured in the crucible of imperfections, but rather, in the metamorphoses of what he becomes. The best portion of his life is the little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love. As we express our gratitude for him we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. “Sgt. TJ” Thomas J. Turnbull was a proud patriot who’s home had contributed to the manpower of our great nation, upholding the ideals of our American freedoms. Tom was an adventurous and spontaneous dad, He was a good neighbor, kind, considerate and helpful.
But what is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly. Every heart has its secret sorrows in which the world knows not. We’re all made of scars because w’ere all broken. But, that’s how the light gets in. On Monday, June 10, 2024, the unthinkable became the unspeakable. We learned how terrible it is to love something that death can touch. “Sgt. TJ” Thomas J. Turnbull passed away unexpectedly and we unknowingly became the next of kin to the wayward wind. Our loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind. One day we will know how lucky we were to have known his love with wonder, not grief.
Tom was born in the cradle of liberty, Philadelphia and had spent his formative years in Haddon Twp. He had spent his adult years in Seaside Park, NJ and as a Key West, FL neighbor. He returned to Haddon Twp to take care of his mother and resided therafter. Our American soldiers don't fight because they hate what's in front of them. They fight because they love what's behind them. Tom faithfully defended his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Tom made his career working as a Police Officer for the federal government finishing hs working years over 30 years ago. At home, Tom was a lifelong, passionate Philly sports fan cheering on the Phightin’s and the “Iggles”. He was a dog lover and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed, fishing, boating, and playing the links.
Mr. Turnbull regretfully leaves his daughter Amber & her husband Juan Menendez to cherish his memory.
