Great salespeople are relationship builders who provide value contingent upon the attitude of the salesman. It’s not about having the right opportunities, it’s about handling the opportunities the right way… offering possibilities. Bob W. Jackson embraced community and the opportunities to take care of people. Passionate about giving, he was dedicated to Toys for Tots, creating possibilities for children to have nice things and nice Christmases. He never passed a pup without handing out a treat and was the “go to” Halloween house with the full-size candy bars. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.
Bob lived a “crazy life” and got around. He knew the little corners of the world where to find the best hot dogs and enjoyed sharing his experiences through stories. It only takes a moment to make a moment, from the early years on Harley and Vettes to the later years deep in family history and trees, it’s definitely not where ya go but who you meet along the way. If we can treat each other as if we are geniuses, poets, and artists, we have a better chance of becoming that.
But the sun always sets, and the moon always falls. Today, it feels like the end. Just pay no mind at all. Keep on rollin… We've reached the age where life stops giving things, but takes them away. Bob passed away, just a few short days after his 82nd birthday, at Cooper Hospital in Camden.
Funny, he told everyone, “I was born here” in Cooper, Camden. He raised his family and had been a longtime neighbor in Collingswood. Bob worked as a traveling salesman and had spent the majority of his career at NEC. He also worked at Campbell Soup, in Camden, in product development, laughingly testing and marketing some of our favorite recipes.
A few years ago, the love of his life and dear wife, Lynn (nee Welker) passed away. Bob is survived by and will be deeply missed by his girls, Kristin (Jimmy Soto) Jackson and Ashley (Andrew Sell) Jackson. He is the proud “P-pop” of Casey & Morgan Sell.
Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to gather with the Jackson family. We’ll come together to remember Bob, celebrate his natural spirit of giving, and pay tribute to all of his funny stories on Sunday afternoon, October 12th, between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm, where a memorial ceremony with reflection and remembrances will follow, during which those who wish to speak and share memories are welcome at 4:00 pm. We will gather to say goodbye and bear witness to love’s reunion and place Bob with Lynne at the Chews United Methodist Churchyard on Monday at 1:00 pm. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, as a testament to Bob, pay it forward. Contributions are strongly encouraged to be made to Toys for Tots using the link below.
