Richard Wimmer, of Gloucester City, NJ, died on April 4, 2026. He was 95 years old. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan (nee Clayton), to whom he was married for 57 years. Loving father of Sharon L. Norman and husband Jim of Kissimmee, FL, and Richard A. Wimmer and wife Suzanne of Boothwyn, PA. Dick was the cherished Gramps of grandchildren Janine Young, husband Kyle; Katie Sarajian, husband Tim; Meghan Bistline, husband John; and Jimmy Norman. He also had 4 great-grandchildren: Zoey, Ashlyn, Jay, and Delainey. Dear brother of Dorothy Lynch, deceased, and Geraldine Furlong. Dick was the son of the late Howard D. and Kathryn C. Wimmer. Dick retired from the E.I. Dupont company with 34 years as an analytical technician.

Throughout his adult life, Dick was a dedicated Mason, being a member of Collinswood Cloud Lodge No. 101 for 74 years. He served the lodge as Worshipful Master in 1986 and later as lodge secretary for 13 years. He was a 33rd Degree Member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Masons, Valley of Southern New Jersey, serving as Commander in Chief in 1996. Dick was appointed a Grand Chaplain of the Grand Lodge of New Jersey in 1989/1990. Dick belonged to the Crescent Shrine, the Royal Order of Scotland, and many other masonic organizations, including the Nelson W. Craig Hi-Twelve Club No. 73, where he served as president in 1993 and secretary for many years.

Dick graduated from Gloucester City High School in 1948. He was a great follower of sports and was an avid fan of the Phillies and Eagles. He was at one time active with the Gloucester City Little League and also umpired for several years with the South Jersey Umpires Association. Dick was also an avid bowler. He loved the outdoors and was usually found hunting small game in season.

After the death of his wife, Joan, Dick moved into the Riddle Village Retirement Center in Media, PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the Wimmer family. We’ll come together in thanksgiving and pay tribute to Mr. Wimmer on Friday morning between 10:00 am and 11:00 am at McGee Celebration Etherington Funeral Home, 700 Powell St., Gloucester, where a funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will immediately follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson.
