Richard "Dick" J. Horan

On July 3, 2017, of Audubon Park, NJ, age 83. He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor A. (nee Conroy), loving father of Kathleen Schmincke (Fred) of Oaklyn, Richard J. Horan, Jr. (Debbie) of Audubon, Jacqueline Jones (Selby) of Gloucester City and Barbara Vennell (Bob) of Bellmawr. He is also survived by his dear grandchildren Fred Jr. (Jennifer), Jennifer (Dana), Daniel (Sara), Richard III (Shannon), Selby III (Christine), Alison (Brian) Kevin (Erin) and Shauna (Kevin) and great grandchildren Emma, Valerie, Molly and Connor. Dick was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War where he served on the aircraft carrier USS WASP. He was a member of the Brooklawn American Legion Post 72, Townsend C. Young VFW Post 3620, the Audubon Park Fire Dept. and was a life member of the ICAC. He was also a member of the Independent Umpires Assoc. and the South Jersey Basketball Officials. Along with officiating sports Dick also enjoyed coaching. He was a former coach for Fairview, Oaklyn and Mt. Ephraim Midget Football Leagues, Audubon Park and Mt. Ephraim Little Leagues and Girls Softball Leagues. Dick was a Phillies Fan and a diehard Eagles Fan. He enjoyed going to the games in the "winavega" and his favorite summer spot was Crabby Jack's in Somers Point. Relatives and friends are invited to meet Sunday from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and again Monday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the CRERAN FUNERAL HOME, 400 WHITE HORSE PIKE OAKLYN, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, 11:00 AM, at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, St. Aloysius Church, 37 W. Haddon Ave., Oaklyn, NJ. Interment will follow at New St. Mary's Cemetery in Bellmawr. In lieu of flowers his family would appreciate memorial donations be made to Richard J. Horan, Sr. Memorial Fund, Audubon Board of Education, 350 Edgewood Ave., Audubon, NJ 08106.
