Leon P. Smith

April 24, 1947 — September 28, 2019

On September 28, 2019 of Orlando, FL, formerly of Pitman, age 72. He is the beloved son of Clara Hays and the late Alfred L. Smith, Sr., loving father of Deanne Adler (Robert), Lonnie Walker, Stephanie Mick and dear brother of Judith Kenney, Meri Crowthers, Carole Hoke (Steve), Susan Tiley (Preston), Alene Smith and the late Alfred L. Smith, Jr. He is also survived by his dear grandchildren Marina, Nicholas, Jaime, Alexander, Jocelyn, Jillian, Jacob and his faithful companion Rylee. Leon graduated from Pitman High School in 1965 and received his MBA from Temple University. He retired as a Vice President for the Daimler Chrysler Corp. in Michigan. Leon was also an Army Veteran, a member of the Townsend C. Young VFW Post #3620 and a member of the American Legion. He was an accomplished billiard player, an avid traveler particularly to Guatemala, loved fishing and was a member of the Italian Greyhound Club. Relatives and friends are invited to meet Monday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the ETHERINGTON-CRERAN FUNERAL HOME, 700 POWELL ST., GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ. Leon's Funeral Service will be held 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Woodbury Memorial Park, West Deptford, NJ. In lieu of flowers his family would appreciate memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ or American Lung Assoc., 1200 Hosford St., Suite 101, Hudson, WI 54016-9316.
