He’s the goofy, fun loving man of passion; the key to Kevin D. Hannum, Sr.’s happiness was laughter. He was the one singing in the shower, dancing in the living room to his favorite tunes and everyone knew “that smirk”. He was butch enough to wear lipstick and pull it off. Kevin was integrity, courage and dependability. He was one of the few, one of the proud… SEMPER FI. Over the past few years, while challenged by indisposition, Kevin was tenacious, full of hope and faithful. You know what Ol’ Jack Burton says at a time like this? … Just look that big ol’ storm right square in the eye and say…. “Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it.” Kevin did just that. But, on Wednesday April 27, 2022 we learned how terrible it was to love something death can touch. Because Kevin would not stop for death, he kindly stopped for kevin, after just 47 years, at Virtua Lourdes Hospital in Camden. The carriage just held Kevin and immortality.
Kevin was born in Stratford, a 1993 graduate of Triton Regional High School and had been a longtime resident of Bellmawr. His home had contributed to the manpower of our great nation, upholding the American ideals of freedom as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He protected and served his community as a police officer as part of the Bellmawr and National Park Police Departments. He also volunteered his time as a fireman and was a longtime firefighter with the Bellmawr Fire Department, Station 32. Kevin spent many nights laughing at Seinfeld episodes and all of his Sundays cheering on the “Iggles”. Most of all, he adored his children, drowning worms fishing and spending time camping under the stars. The road had finally taken Kevin home.
Kevin is the devoted and caring husband of Robin (nee Kanauss) and father of Kevin D. Hannum, Jr. and Gabrielle Hannum. He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents; Robert & his wife Donna (nee Tyers) Bangs. Kevin is also survived and will be sadly missed by his brothers; Chuck Hannum, Joshua Hannum and Sam Bangs. His sister-in-laws; Jill and Melissa as well as his uncle Ken Tyers, nieces and nephews; Nathan, Sara, Lucas, Ashley, Noah and his faithful furry friend Cooper.
Relatives, friends, neighbors, police officers and firefighters are invited to gather with the Hannum family. We’ll be sharing tall tale fishing stories, arguing about the eagles and paying tribute to a loving husband, son, father and friend on Tuesday morning between 9:30 am and 11:00 am at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 700 Powell St. Gloucester City. We will celebrate Kevin’s life in faith at 11:30 am at Immanuel Orthodox Presbyterian Church 11 Park Dr. Bellmawr. The time honored tradition of reuniting those we love with nature will be held privately.
As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Kevin’s children’s education fund ℅ Sam Bangs at any TD Bank branch. www.tdank.com
