Joe Negri, born and raised in Gloucester City. October 17, 1960 to April 24, 2025 Joe’s loving spirit is carried on by his wife, Kim; his children, Nicole and Joe; and his grandchildren, Hayley, Jaden, and Cooper. He is also survived by his sister, Betty, and his nieces and nephews. He is now peacefully reunited with his mother, Grace, his father Paul, his brothers Jack and Gavin, and his sister Elaine (Bert).
Joe, Dad, Papasan, Pop-Pop, Negs was full of love, laughter, and rock and roll.
He loved us deeply — our mom, my brother, me, and especially his grandkids Hayley, Jaden, and Cooper, “his kids,” and he showed it in every hug, kiss on the head, funny nickname, and voicemail. He just wanted to see what we were up to, tell us to have a good day, tell the kids to learn a lot, and of course, to share how much he loved us.
He’d do anything for anyone. He saved a man’s life with CPR. He may have committed a B & E, but he stopped a house fire. He shoveled snow, mowed lawns, and picked up trash anywhere and everywhere, even at the kids’ soccer games as he walked the perimeter of the field.
He was hilarious. Jokes…all day and night. There was nothing better than being able to crack jokes at each other. He had us laughing til the very end, and we are blessed to have his personality.
Our dad could dance! Back in the day his dancing was often on the bar, yes on the bar not just while at the bar. My dad knew how to have a good time.
Lastly, our dad was a Master Carpenter. He could do anything. Everything from simple projects to rebuilding millionaire’s mansions. He provided for our family well. He taught us so much, and working by his side gave us some of our favorite memories. So many laughs, so many lessons.
Turning wrenches, swinging hammers. I’m not quite a master carpenter, but I sure can take care of my projects on my own because of him. My brother, on the other hand, has taken his lead and has taken on our dad’s legacy as a master carpenter.
My dad lived life on his terms. There aren’t many memories of my dad following the rules. We have stories for days, and he wasn’t nicknamed Crazy Joe for nothing.
Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to gather with the Negri family. We’ll come together to remember and pay tribute to Joe on Thursday evening between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm at Creran Celebration, 700 Powell St, Gloucester City, where we will share our remembrances at 7:00 pm.
