John F. Austin

John F. Austin, age 89 of Barrington, passed away at Silver Care Center in Cherry Hill on Monday March 23, 2009.
Mr. Austin was born in Philadelphia, PA and is an alumnus of Northeast Catholic, class of ‘1937. John had been a resident of Audubon for 42 years, and more recently Barrington for the past 15 years. He had been a Parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church in Haddon Heights for the past 57 years. Mr. Austin faithfully defended his country as a Signalman, Third Class in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII and was honorably discharged in October 1945. John had thoroughly enjoyed his 25 years of retirement and spending time with his family. He had worked for Philco Ford for 23 years, Francis Sheet Metal Works for 5 years then the Virtua Memorial Hospital of Burlington County for 10 years.

Mr. Austin is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Agnes Marie (nee Sontheimer) and is the loving father of Agnes (Michael) Trione, Patricia (Edward, Jr,) Nallen, Margaret (Michael) Garris and the late John J. He is the proud Grandfather of Edward, III (Melissa) Nallen, Michelle (Michael) Reed, Nicole Trione, Caryn (Mark) Gandy, Lisa Garris and Great Grandfather of Edward, IV and Patrick Nallen.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the Austin family to remember and pay tribute to John on Friday morning between 9 and 11 am at St. Rose of Lima Church 300 Kings Highway Haddon Heights where Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am. Interment and graveside tribute will follow at New St. Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Holy Spirit Adoration (Pink) Sisters, Convent of Divine Love, 2212 Green St. Philadelphia, PA 19130
