What we think creates the world around us. It's all about energy and interconnectivity. Jim was an all-around good guy. A true gentleman. He was kind, funny. But he was always straight and narrow. Play by the book and follow the rules. Dad was dad, and he was dedicated.
Although we expected better days ahead, somehow, suddenly, the unthinkable became the unspeakable. James W. Arpino passed away at Cooper Hospital in Camden. He gave one gift above all others, one that knows no time, no place, and one that gold cannot measure. He gave a poignant, tender, precious gift of life.
Jim was born in Philadelphia and had been a longtime Somerdale neighbor. During his very early years, Jim was a competitive roller skater. He got started volunteering in the fire service as a 16-year-old junior at the Cherry Hill Fire Dept., Deer Park Fire Co., Station 13-8. Through his volunteer service over the years, Jim continued to serve and reach positions of leadership as Chief at the Somerdale Fire Co., Station 65, and as Battalion Chief at the Voorhees Fire Department, Station 66, among many other positions he held. Jim retired from NJ Transit as a body shop foreman in Washington Twp and continued his career working in Somerdale and Mt. Laurel as a fire inspector, most recently working as the fire official of the Barrington Fire Alliance. To succeed, work hard, never give up, and above all, cherish a magnificent obsession.
Jim was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He is the son of the late James & his wife Anne (nee Boyle) Arpino. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 48 years, Angela (nee Krieck) Arpino, and is the father of Jim & his wife Christine Arpino, Krissy & her husband Jason Shafer, and Angie & her husband Anthony Mosca. He is the proud Pop Pop of Nicholas, Eliana, Madison, Kenzie, and reunited with his grandson Zachary. He is also survived and will be sadly missed by his furkids, Maverick, Queso, Jimmy & Holly, his sister-in-law Kathie & her husband Bob Priest, as well as his loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives, friends, neighbors, and firefighters are invited to gather with the Arpino family. We’ll come together in tribute and thanksgiving to take comfort in each other on Tuesday evening between 6:00 pm and 9:00 p,m and again on Wednesday morning between 10:00 am and 11:00 am at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn, where a funeral ceremony will be celebrated at 11:00 am. The time-honored tradition of reuniting those we love with nature will be held privately. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Voorhees Animal Orphanage, 419 Cooper Rd, Voorhees Township, NJ 08043, or The Burn Foundation, 8600 West Chester Pike, Suite 202, Upper Darby, PA 19082.
