Diana V Olivieri

December 4, 1928 — February 14, 2024

Oaklyn

Home is the starting place of love, hope, and dreams. The magic about home is that it feels good to leave, and even better to return. Home is where love resides, memories are created, friends always belong, and laughter never ends. The strength and permanence of our families, like a tree, grow branches as our families grow. But, we remain rooted as one, at home. Diana V. Olivieri (nee Boccolini) danced as if no one was watching, held her faith dear putting her life in the hands of God, and found reassuring comfort in her home, cheering on the Phightin’ Phils, Sunday dinners, and summer barbecues… We thought we had this forever. Forever seems to be present when these moments begin but, forever never seems to be around when those moments end.

After 95 years, the angels had waited for so long. Heaven, lit her way and her soul rose like Incense. God shall wipe away the tears from our eyes. She’s in a place where there is no more death, neither sorrow nor crying. There shall be no more pain because all these former things have passed away. Sometimes, no matter how much faith we have, we still lose those we love. But, you never forget them and sometimes, it's those memories that give us the strength to go on...

Mrs. Olivieri was born in a coal town at the foothills of the Pocono mountains. As a very young child, she took up residence with her grandparents, aunts, and uncles in her homeland of Italy spending her formative years in the village of Fossaccio where she survived the German occupation. Following high school, Diana emigrated to the United States at the close of WWII and found her little patch of heaven.

Mrs. Olivieri created a Northstar of love that we could all look up to. She was a doting homemaker, wife, and mother who spent her entire circle of days in Oaklyn enjoying 66 fruitful years of marriage and a lifetime of good memories with her husband, Rick. Time spent laughing is time spent with God. Diana was a founding and perennially active parishioner of St. Aloysius Church in Oaklyn, would get lost jitterbuggin’, fox trottin’, and waltzing across the dance floor with her husband and loved her Phillies. Diana is fondly remembered as the kind, warm, welcoming face working as a lunch lady in the Oaklyn Public Schools lunch room. Don't fear sadness, as it tends to sit next to love.

To the world, Mrs. Olivieri, you were just a mother. But, to your family, you were their world. Diana is the widower of her late husband, Enrico, to whom she was separated by death in 2014 but remained connected by love. Mrs. Olivieri is survived by her children: Daniel & his wife Marie Olivieri, Donna & her husband Joe Lydon, David & his wife Joan Olivieri, and Dwayne & his wife Gerri Olivieri. Diana is the proud grandmother of 10, great-grandmother of 14 and is also survived and will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, parishioners, and friends. Mrs. Olivieri was predeceased by her late sibling and in-laws: Daniel & his wife Dolly Boccolini, Tom & his wife Anna Oliveri, Grace & Bill Buck, William & his wife Ann Oliveri, and dear friends Tom & Cass Demo.

Relatives, friends, and parishioners are invited to gather with the Olivieri family. We’ll come together in a vigil of faith to remember and pay tribute to Diana on Tuesday morning between 8:30 am and 11:00 am at St. Joseph The Worker Parish, St. Aloysius Church 37 W. Haddon Ave., Oaklyn where a Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am by Fr.. Walter Norris. The witness of love’s reunion will immediately follow at Calvary Mausoleum, Cherry Hill.
