Dave, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away at home on December 10, 2025, at the age of sixty-six. Known for his generous spirit, steady hands, and kind heart, he leaves behind a legacy of love, humility, and quiet strength.
There was nothing Dave enjoyed more than caring for his home and the people in it. Whether he was tending to the yard, taking on home repair projects, or showing up whenever friends and family needed help, he approached every task with determination, skill, and pride. No repair was ever too big, too small, or too inconvenient; he was always there, ready to lend a hand.
Dave also had a passion for cars, especially fast ones. He loved the thrill of finding the perfect car, the excitement of bringing it home, and the pure joy of taking it out on the open road. His love of cars wasn’t just a hobby; it was a source of fun, freedom, and youthful energy that never faded.
When he wasn’t working with his hands, cleaning his vehicles, or enjoying the roar of a powerful engine, Dave cherished time by the pool or going out to eat, relaxing with family and friends, and soaking in the simple pleasures of life. These joyful afternoons reflected who he was at his core: someone who understood the value of time, connection, and the everyday beauty of life.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Theresa Simpkins, and his son, David E. Simpkins, Jr.
Dave is lovingly remembered for his generosity, humor, and unwavering support by his daughters, Jaime Luff (Brian), Brittany Ulrich (Mike), grandchildren Jaylin (Grace), Sophie, Logan, Nom and Kellan, brother Mark Simpkins (Sharon), nieces Mallory, Kristin, Jill, Megan and Kelsey, his ‘second mom’ Marian, many lifelong friends including Lynne, Maria, Joe, Bill, Nick, Gary, Steve, Rich, and his furry companion, Aspen.
His presence brightened every yard, every workshop, every driveway—and his absence will be deeply felt.
May we honor him by caring for one another the way he always cared for us.
Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to gather with the Simpkins family. We’ll celebrate the thrill of fast cars and the importance of family in tribute to our father, grandfather, and friend on Saturday, December 20th, between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes, 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn, where a memorial and remembrance ceremony will begin at 12:00 pm.
