Clare D Critchfield

March 16, 1954 — October 14, 2024

Gloucester

Clare Delores Critchfield (nee Gardner) passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with her daughter by her side. Clare is predeceased by her loving parents Lloyd and Alma (Zimmerman) Gardner, her brother Harvey Gardner, her dear aunt and uncle Delores and Corky Carr (Teetie & Unkie), and her cousin Wayne Carr. She will be deeply missed by her daughter and son-in-law Stacey and Tom Cardenas and her beloved granddaughters Shauna and Kylie who will miss their Grammy endlessly.

Her cousins Andrea Carr, Erica, and Michael Annuzzi and their children Lorenzo and Gianna, and Ashley and Anthony Latrella and their children Emilia and Lucy will miss her quick wit and the joy they found in celebrating holidays and events together.

Clare was born in Camden and raised in Woodlynne where she resided for over 50 years, graduating from Collingswood High School in 1972. She relocated to Gloucester City and it was there that she had the great fortune of meeting her dearest friend Madlyn, whose family included her in countless celebrations.

Clare will be remembered for her kindness, good humor, and for her skill at delivering a well-timed sarcastic remark. Clare spent many years as a homemaker and was an amazing mom. She was a devoted Grammy who never tired of spending time with her favorite girls, celebrating every milestone and treasuring every memory made.

Clare was a doting cat mom to a number of kitties over the years, most recently Poodie and Boo-Boo. She complained often about her grand dogs, but somehow they always seemed to be snuggling up to her when she visited.

Clare’s greatest gift was her big heart. She was the best mom a girl could ask for. Her presence will be deeply missed and her love will never be forgotten.

Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to gather with the Critchfield family on Friday morning between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn where a funeral ceremony will begin at 12:00 pm.
