Bonnie R. Schmidt, age 86, of Gloucester City, NJ, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, June 29th, 2022. Bonnie, the oldest of five siblings, was born Bonnie Rae Webster to parents Roland Sr. and Winona on September 4th, 1935 in Millville, NJ. Bonnie is predeceased by her husband, John Schmidt, Sr.; her sisters, Marilyn and Barbara; her brother, Roland, Jr; and her eldest son, John Schmidt, Jr.
Bonnie is survived by her sister, Catherine Saier, of Barefoot Bay, Florida, who keeps Bonnie’s memory and legacy alive through the love and stories she shares and creates with her family.
Bonnie is also survived by five of her children; Bonnie Sheridan (Joe), Lawrence “Butch” Schmidt, Linda Smith, Donald Schmidt (Kitty), and Ronald Schmidt.
Family meant everything to Bonnie. She celebrated with everyone the joy brought by her children, 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Not to mention her many grand-dogs and other beloved family pets. Bonnie is fondly remembered as “grandmom” and “great-gram.” She was notorious for finding the most random and wonderful gifts and Christmas presents usually from her favorite shopping network, QVC. For birthdays and special occasions, Bonnie or great-gram, mailed cards to many of her great-grandchildren with a single dollar bill. It became a tradition that they looked forward to every year and will miss dearly.
Bonnie loved keeping up with the times and technology. She looked forward to new Disney movies and was a huge Harry Potter fan. She was always on Facebook and would share, like, love, comment, and re-share every single post and status. She carried her camera with her everywhere she went to capture candid moments of her family- before going digital, she’d have her disposable film camera with her and ready. She was always playing bingo and other online games on her tablet and loved trips to the casino. Bonnie enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, camping, and trips to the lake, and her signature beer was a cold Rolling Rock.
Though Bonnie has departed, and she can't be with us, we hold the memories, love, and happiness she left with us close to our hearts.
Funeral services for Bonnie have been entrusted to Creran Celebration Etherington and Creran Funeral Homes at 400 Whitehorse Pike, Oaklyn, NJ. Services are on Friday, July 8th, starting at 10 am and will be followed by a visit to Bonnie’s final resting place, next to her late husband John, at the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Gibbsboro, NJ, 43 Clementon Rd, Gibbsboro, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends and loved ones consider a donation to their local ASPCA or animal shelter.
