Bert Jones-Carr was the life of the party. The rock of her family, and she took care of… everyone! A Gloucester girl, right down to her bones, who was a friend to all and found a lifetime of fun along the way.
When you never slow down, you never grow old. Bert enjoyed traveling, cruising, the boardwalk, and casinos, and filling her days taking care of her family. Road trips and travel allowed her to see the world the way she wanted to.
On Saturday, September 6, 2025, Bertha E. (nee Dick) Jones-Carr peacefully passed into the arms of her Savior after 89 blessed years.
Bert was born in Bellmawr to the late Caroline and Raymond Dick and had been a lifelong Gloucester Girl. She was a dedicated and contributing member of the Gloucester City American Legion Post, 135, as well as the Gloucester City VFW Post 3620. Bert made her career as a Credit Supervisor at Chrysler in Marlton. She also enjoyed spending time with friends at The Sportsman Athletic Club with her husband Jim.
Bert leaves to cherish her memory her husband, James Carr, and is survived by her children, Terry (nee Jones) & her husband, Brad Fithian, as well as stepson James Carr, Jr. Bert was predeceased by her children, the late Edward R. “Bobby” Benner, William Benner, stepson Steven Carr, and stepdaughter Diane Benner. She was also predeceased by her siblings, the late Raymond Dick, Ronald Dick, and Lorraine Powell. Bert is the proud grandmother of 13, the great-grandmother of a multitude, and is also survived by her sister-in-law, Rosemary Dick, brother-in-law Joseph Powell, nieces, and nephews, who will miss her dearly.
Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to join the family Friday morning between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm, along with a memorial service at 12:00 pm. at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes, 700 Powell St., Gloucester City. A closing tribute will conclude at the Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery, Williamstown.
