Alessio "Jake" Perrone

December 27, 1928 — December 28, 2020

Scratch offs, gin poker and betting horses. The day after Alessio “Jake” Perrone’s 92nd birthday, it was time to say goodbye. Jake Perrone passed away at Samaritan Inpatient Hospice in Voorhees, NJ. Some memories never leave your heart. Like the salt in the sea; they become part of you - and you carry them.

Jake was born in Philadelphia. He served in the United States Navy Seabees as WWII was coming to an end. He was a man’s man. Ornery but loving, caring and compassionate. Singing and dancing on Sunday mornings with Sinatra. He was a proud tugboat Captain who made his career at American Dredging in Camden and made the best gravy in the world (according to him), in the kitchen. Jake tempted lady luck at the casinos and couldn’t pass up a meal at the Black Horse Diner. He & Franny had been dedicated parishioners of St. Joseph The Worker Parish, St. Aloysius Church and spanned the globe on a countless number of cruises. Even far from home, he remained a lifetime fan cheering on his Philadelphia Phillies. Jake will fondly be remembered as unique but the best dad.

Mr. Perrone is the widower of his late wife Barbara and is survived by his fiancé, Franny Marazzo. He is the father of Ann Perrone, Gil Perrone, Thomas Perrone as well as the late Alessio “Al” Perrone. Jake is the proud grandfather of; Jacqui Orlando, Alessio Perrone Jr., Donna Lamborne, Gia, Zackary, Jake, Samantha, Danielle and Kristina Perrone. He is the great-grandfather of Brianna and Brandon Olesnovich, Grace and Jack Lamborne & Mia Gracia. Mr. Perrone is also survived by Anne, Suzanne and Kris Perrone as well as his beloved Marazzo family. “Jake” was predeceased by all seven of his siblings.

Relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to gather with the Perrone family on Saturday morning between 9:00 am and 11:00 am at St. Joseph The Worker Parish, St. Aloysius Church 37 W. Haddon Ave, Oaklyn where we'll celebrate life through faith in a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. A graveside tribute and United States Navy honors will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Samaritan Hospice 3906 Church Rd. Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054 www.samaritannj.org  #crerancelebration #heartfelt
