Elizabeth E (Egizi) Realey

May 11, 1954 — September 16, 2023

Mt. Ephraim

What happens in the craft room often spills out into the house because happiness is homemade. Through the years, Elizabeth E. Realey (nee Egizi) made a home of dedicated love navigating her family from the Broadway theater to “clean out the fridge” night. We were all in store for a very big treat. Lizzie was a phenomenal cook with old-world Italian recipes and possessed a sense of creativity that rivaled Martha’s.

Home is the starting place of love, hope, and dreams but we all come to this world to be tourists. To enjoy life, go sightseeing and do good. Travel, however, isn't always pretty. It isn't always comfortable. Sometimes it just hurts, and even breaks your heart. The journey changes us. On Saturday, September 16, 2023, we learned just how terrible it was to love something death can touch. Over the last many years, Elizabeth had faced adversity with declining health and after just 69 years, the road trip of yesterday’s postcard memories concluded in her home in Mt. Ephraim. We instantly became next of kin to the wayward wind. Liz created a Northstar of love that we can all look up to and If we can treat each other as though we are geniuses, poets, and artists, we all have a better chance of becoming and living just that.

Mrs. Realey was born in Camden and had spent a lot of years as a Mt. Ephraim neighbor. Mark Twain said, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” Elizabeth knew exactly why, the day her twin girls were born. She left her educated working life and instantly became a career homemaker. Liz followed her college graduation working as a special education teacher at Yorkship School in the Fairview neighborhood of Camden and filled her circle of days where love resides, memories are created, friends always belong and laughter never ends.

Don't fear sadness, as it tends to sit next to love. She left that with her husband, Scott Realey, and her girls; Elyse & her wife Shanita Quarles and Lauren Realey. Mrs. Realey is the proud grandmother of Anthony G. Ciletti and just adored her golden, “Cookie”.

Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to gather with the Realey family. Bring your favorite recipe, We’re gonna come together in tribute and thanksgiving to take a road trip down memory lane, sharing our heartfelt stories on Friday evening between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes, 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn.

You may bury my heart but not my love, my eyes but not my vision, my hands but not my effort.  Burn what is left of me and scatter my ashes to the wind. The time-honored tradition of reuniting those we love with nature will be held privately.
