Dorothy E Rouh

September 16, 1936 — April 29, 2020

Dorothy E. Rouh (nee Blowe), our beloved mother, Mom-Mom, Gi-Gi and, of course, Gramz, answered the Lord's call to come home on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. Dot passed peacefully, surrounded in love by her family, just in time to celebrate with her late husband Walter C. Rouh, Sr., on his birthday the next day.

Dot was born on September 16, 1936, in Camden and graduated among the top of her class from Camden City High School, class of 1954. She worked for decades in transcription and billing with several medical groups including Dr. Joseph Gillerlain and the Surgical Group of South Jersey. She was a devout Methodist and spent more than six decades as an active congregant of Chews United Methodist Church in Glendora, New Jersey, where she volunteered in just about every activity. She taught Sunday School, decorated the sanctuary, served meals at the annual men's breakfast and church gatherings, and led those activities as a Trustee. Dot loved heading up and participating in social gatherings, and could often be found organizing and enjoying trips to the Lancaster area, New York City, and other destinations to shop for bargains, enjoy the cuisine, or take in a show with family and friends. In her late years, she also became a passionate fan of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Those who knew Dot probably have something she hand-crocheted or painted at her weekly ceramics class. Friends were frequently offered Altoids or Werther's candy, and even after declining multiple times, would finally take one. If she learned they liked something, she'd have a Sam's Club size of it for them in a matter of days. Dot could regularly be seen cheering on her grandkids at softball and baseball games, pushing the cart holding her chair, with her navy blue blanket, trekking to the field, and shouting out "Feel the breeze!" as a batter would miss her granddaughter's pitch.

Dot was predeceased by her late parents, Robert and Mabel (nee Clark) Blowe, and her late husband, Walt Sr. She is survived by, cherished by, and will be deeply missed by her son, Walt Rouh, Jr.; daughter, Nancy Colon; son-in-law, Bob Colon; daughter-in-law, Lisa Rouh; grandchildren Daniel Colon, Jamie Johnson, and Kelly Rouh; grandson-in-law Jeff Johnson; great-grandson, Wesley Johnson; feline companion, Trixie; and too many other dear family members and friends to name.

There will forever be an emptiness at every holiday dinner table, family gathering, craft show, softball game, cantata, and even monster truck show. We will remember her deep faith, her kind and compassionate spirit, her no-nonsense approach, her abundant energy, and her ability to accept teasing with grace and return it in full. We will always remember and appreciate her never-ending love for life, family, and friends. We wish her a safe journey and an eternal lifetime of joy.

Dorothy's heartfelt goodbye and the witness of love's reunion will be held privately at Chews United Methodist Church in Glendora. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Dot Rouh Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 152, Glendora, NJ 08029.
